This tutorial uses the formatting explained on the Basic editing page. If you're looking for where newcomers should go for the introduction to the wiki, go to Welcome!
To get you comfortable with basic editing, you can test it on your userpage by following these steps! If you don't want to make an account, you can also use the Public Sandbox.
- Before you start, make sure you've read the Rules of the wiki.
- Click your avatar at the bottom left of any page, and go to "View Profile". This will take you to your userpage, but it will tell you that the page doesn't exist, because you haven't made it yet. Instead, it will say this:
- There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or create this page.
- Click on "create this page" or press the "edit" button with the pencil on it just above and to the right. (Don't click the "Edit profile" button at the top of the page. You can do that later if you want.)
- Write something on the page. It could be "Hello!" or your username or anything you want.
- Save your page.
- Press the edit button again. Next, let's try some formatting:
- Put the text you've written in italics. Do this by putting two apostrophes on either side of the text, like
''Hello!'' - Make the text you've written bold. Do this by adding an apostrophe on either side of the two you already have, so there's three apostrophes on either side of the text, like
'''Hello!''' - Make the text you've written bold and italic. Do this by adding two apostrophes on either side of the three you already have, so there's five apostrophes on either side of the text, like
'''''Hello!'''''
- Put the text you've written in italics. Do this by putting two apostrophes on either side of the text, like
- Put some links on the page. First, put a link to Dooku by typing
[[Dooku]]. - Next, make it display as different text by writing
[[Dooku|Darth Tyranus]], which produces Darth Tyranus. - Make the Darth Tyranus link bold. Do this by putting the three apostrophes outside the square brackets, like
''[[Dooku|Darth Tyranus]]''. This produces Darth Tyranus. - Last, put a header above your link to Dooku's page. Make it a Level 2 heading by putting two equals signs around your heading, like
